Being an IS student...

Miriam College International Studies students go out of their comfort zones and get a taste of the real world of work. We are required to complete 180 hours of internship in an organization, institution, government department, or corporation that will equip us to face the "real world" once we graduate.

With all the papers that need to be done by the end of the semester, it was a wonder hat I still got in in an organization wherein I can learn and enhance the knowledge and skills that I have acquired from Miriam College. According to AFS Statement of Purpose:

AFS is an international, volunteer-based, non-profit, non-governmental, non-religious organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

AFS Intercultural Programs started in the Philippines back in 1956. Over the years, thousands of students had participated in different international exchange programs that aim to equip Filipinos most especially the youth in having the skills and understanding to create a more just and peaceful world.

Volunteerism is one of the major tools that keep AFS IPP alive. Volunteers and alumni of this organization bring about changes in their respective communities and/or countries by leading and organizing community-based and national programs that address the needs of humanity.
